FORM (Joinform) Beginner's Guide 2026: Your First Week of At-Home Workouts in 5 Steps

The mat is unrolled. The phone is propped against a stack of books. You're in a sports bra you bought three years ago and socks that slide on the floorboards, and you have absolutely no idea which of a thousand classes to press first. That moment, the one right before your first at-home workout, is where most good intentions quietly stall.

This guide is for getting past it. FORM (joinform.com) is a workout membership led by trainer Sami Clarke plus an activewear shop built around it, and it has more beginner on-ramps than its glossy feed suggests. SweatproofGear went through the platform's checkout page, programs page, FAQ and shop on October 20, 2026, and boiled it down to five simple steps.

Who This Guide Is For

  • You've never followed a workout app, or you've downloaded three and opened none.
  • You want to train at home with a mat and maybe a pair of dumbbells, not a full gym.
  • You'd like someone else to decide what today's workout is.

FORM's own FAQ says it offers workouts for beginners as well as advanced classes, and that you don't need a gym membership: "All you need is yourself and a mat to get started!"

Step 1: Use the Free Week Like a Test Drive

The platform's checkout page lists a 7-day free trial. Treat those seven days as a fit check, not a fitness test. The membership description lists what you're trying out: 1,200+ on-demand workouts across Pilates, strength, HIIT, sculpt and weights, weekly workout schedules, a nutrition hub with recipes and grocery guides, guided meditations, and the option to stream anywhere or download classes for offline use.

That last one matters more than it sounds. Downloaded classes mean the hotel room with bad Wi-Fi isn't an excuse.

Do this if: you're not sure you'll stick with it. A week costs nothing to find out.

Step 2: Pick One Starter Program

Programs and training styles live inside the FORM app. Image: FORM.

The library is huge, so don't browse. Commit to one program from FORM's programs page and let it carry you for two weeks:

  • Start Strong. A 14-day program led by trainer Calyn Brooke that FORM describes as "a return to the basics": full-body, upper, lower, core and glute workouts using just dumbbells and bodyweight, with clear guidance on each movement. This is the most beginner-shaped program on the page.
  • The FORM Method. FORM calls it a throwback to Sami Clarke's original Instagram Live days: no fancy equipment, no complicated routines, "just 30 minutes, a mat, and you."
  • 7 Day Core Challenge. Short workouts that FORM says can stand alone or be added to the end of your daily movement.

Prefer zero decisions? The Weekly Schedule lays out a workout for each day. The FAQ says you don't have to follow it, and you can use Search and Filter instead, but for week one, following it is the whole point.

Step 3: Set Up a Small Corner

FORM's FAQ recommends a booty band, 3–15 lb dumbbells and ankle weights "to make the most out of your workout offerings," then adds that there's a whole category of Equipment Free workouts if you have nothing yet. Our take: start with a mat and the free classes, and only buy weights once a program like Start Strong asks for them.

One small, cheap upgrade that changes the feel of a hardwood floor: FORM Grip Socks ($20), in Navy or White/Cherry, one size.

Step 4: Get One Outfit That Doesn't Distract You

You don't need a drawer of sets. You need one top that stays put and one bottom you don't tug at during a plank. FORM's activewear is mostly the same 75% polyester / 25% spandex fabric, labeled true to size, with a bust and underbust chart on every top and a waist chart on every bottom. Four easy entry pieces:

  • Straight Neck Bra, Navy/White ($68). Medium support and medium coverage, thicker adjustable straps and contrast binding. All five sizes (XS–XL) were in stock. Buy this if: your week is mostly Pilates and strength, not jumping.
  • FORM Cami, Navy/White ($72). A full-length tank with a built-in shelf bra and removable padding, rated medium support. Buy this if: you'd rather not show your midriff while you learn.
  • Core Shorts 3" ($74). The newer, shorter cut of FORM's Core Shorts, high-rise above the belly button with a seamless front rise, XS–XL. Navy was down to XL when we checked; Walnut had the most sizes. Buy this if: you get warm fast.
  • Core Leggings, Black ($88). Extra high-rise, no front rise seam, 27" inseam to the ankle, XS–XXXL. Buy this if: you want one pair for workouts and errands.

Step 5: Make Week One Small on Purpose

FORM's classes range from quick 10-minute flows you can stack to longer gym sessions, according to the membership listing. Use that. A realistic first week looks like this:

  1. Pick three days and put them in your calendar like appointments.
  2. On each day, do that day's Start Strong or Weekly Schedule session, nothing extra.
  3. If a full class feels like too much, do a 10-minute flow and call it a win.
  4. At the end of the trial week, decide: keep going, or cancel before you're charged.

New to exercise, or have any medical concerns? Talk to a qualified professional before starting a new program. FORM's FAQ gives similar advice to anyone exercising during pregnancy.

Beginner FAQ

Do I need equipment for my first week?

No. FORM says a mat is enough to start and offers Equipment Free workouts. Start Strong uses dumbbells and bodyweight.

Can I return activewear if the size is wrong?

Full-price items can be returned within 14 days for a refund with tags attached, or within 30 days for store credit or an exchange. Sale items are final, and international returns aren't accepted.

How long does gear take to arrive?

FORM's shipping policy says to allow 7–10 days. US shipping is free from $250, with exclusions.

Press Play

The hard part was never the workout. It was the deciding. With FORM, the free week, one starter program and one comfortable outfit take the deciding away. Roll out the mat, choose Start Strong or The FORM Method, and check our FORM deals page before you sign up or shop.
