RDX Sports Beginner's Guide 2026: Your First Home Boxing Kit, From Hand Wraps to a Freestanding Bag
Thud. Thud-thud. There's a sound a heavy bag makes when you finally land a clean one-two, and once you've heard it in your own living room, you'll want to hear it every evening.
Getting there doesn't take a full gym, just the right few pieces in the right order. We went through RDX Sports' U.S. store on October 24, 2026, from hand wraps to freestanding bags, and built a beginner's kit that covers your hands first, then your gloves, then something to hit, with every price checked in U.S. dollars.
Who This Beginner's Guide Is For
It's for anyone starting boxing or kickboxing at home, whether after a few gym classes, alongside a home workout routine or just for the joy of hitting something after work. It's also for parents and partners shopping for that person. We list only what RDX states on its own product and policy pages.
Step 1: Wrap Your Hands Before Anything Else
Gloves go on top of something. RDX sells both classic wraps and quicker slip-on inner gloves, and a beginner can choose either.
RDX RB New Professional Boxing Hand Wraps Set ($33.99). Three pairs of 4.5-meter wraps, each with a thumb loop at one end and a hook-and-loop closure at the other. Three pairs means one on your hands, one in the wash and a spare in the gym bag.
RDX HI Inner Gloves Hand Wraps ($23.99). If wrapping feels fiddly, these slip on like a glove. They have a half-finger cut for grip, extended thumb reinforcement and full wrist coverage, come in S to XL, and RDX says they're completely machine washable.
Buy this if: you want to be on the bag in ten seconds instead of two minutes. Choose the wrap set if you'd like to learn the classic method.
Step 2: Choose Gloves (and an Ounce Size)
Boxing gloves are sized in ounces, and both of our beginner picks come in 10, 12, 14 and 16 oz. Every RDX product page has a Size Guide button beside the size selector; use it before you click "add to cart." One concrete pointer from RDX itself: the F15 Noir page says the 10 oz size is recommended for users up to 14 years of age.
RDX F4 Boxing Sparring Gloves Hook & Loop ($44.99). Built for training and sparring, with a Kalix Skin Mayahide leather exterior, five layers of Membrane Grid 2 padding, a soft satin interior and a Quick EZ hook-and-loop closure you can fasten without help. Some color and size combinations were sold out when we checked, so look at stock before you settle on red or pink.
RDX F15 Noir Boxing Gloves ($58.99). All matte black, with a ConvEX Skin Combat Leather outer, layered EVA padding, RDX's Quadro-Dome mould to spread impact across the glove, nylon mesh palms for airflow and a Quick EZ strap.
Buy this if: you want one pair for bag work and partner drills. The F4 is the lower-cost entry; the F15 Noir is the sleek upgrade.

Step 3: Get Something to Hit (No Ceiling Hook Needed)
Hanging bags need a solid beam or bracket. For most apartments and garages, a freestanding bag is the easier start, and RDX sells several that come with bag mitts.
RDX F9 6ft Adults Free Standing Punch Bag With Bag Mitts ($224.99). A 6-foot target with numbered strike zones, a double-layered Maya hide leather exterior, a high-density foam protector, a shock-absorbing connector and RDX's Octa-Truss base with eight extendable legs for stability. It comes in Red or Grey. One practical note from RDX's own spec graphic: the base and the bag ship as two separate parcels, so don't panic when only one box arrives.
RDX Free-Standing Adult Punch Bag Target Medium Bag 5Ft ($228.99). A foot shorter, with soft shredded textile filling, DenZo-Tron foam padding, the same eight-leg Octa-Truss base and punching bag gloves included, in seven colors.
Buy this if: you're taller or want kick height, go 6 ft; if your space is tight or you want a color to match your gloves, the 5 ft bag fits the bill.
Step 4: Add Pads and a Rope When You're Ready
RDX T15 Noir Focus Pads ($57.99). For when a friend or partner wants to hold for you. They're ConvEX Skin Combat Leather with EVA-LUTION foam, an EZ Grip Ball inside for the holder's hand, pinholes for airflow and hook-and-loop straps.
RDX C2 Adjustable Aluminum Handle Skipping Rope ($15.99). The classic boxer's warm-up. It has weighted aluminum handles, a 360-degree swivel to keep the rope from tangling, and a 3,000 mm PVC-coated steel rope you can adjust to your height. It comes with a storage bag. Golden was the color in stock when we checked.

The Bottom Line
Start with your hands, then your gloves, then the bag. A set of RB wraps or HI inner gloves, a pair of F4s or F15 Noirs in a size checked against RDX's Size Guide, and the F9 freestanding bag will have you landing combinations at home the evening the last box arrives. Add the focus pads when someone offers to hold them. Before you check out, look at the RDX Sports deals page to see today's codes.
