HigherDOSE Care Guide 2026: Clean, Store and Protect Your Sauna Blanket and Gear

The timer beeps, you unzip, and for a minute you just lie there on the living-room floor. Then you look at the blanket: warm, a little damp, half folded over itself. What you do in the next ten minutes decides whether it still looks new next winter or ends up as a sad, creased lump in the hall closet.
A HigherDOSE device costs real money, from a $349 LED mask to a $699 sauna blanket. This guide sticks to the practical side: how the brand says to set up, clean, store and look after its gear, which accessories actually help, and which mistakes its warranty won't cover. Everything here comes from HigherDOSE's own product pages, spec sheets and policies, checked in October 2026.
Note: this is a care guide, not medical advice. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or use an implanted device, talk to your doctor before using any heat or light device.
Before the Session: Set Up the Way the Brand Does
Good care starts before you switch the blanket on. HigherDOSE's instructions for the Infrared Sauna Blanket are short:
- Lay it flat on a heat-safe surface, plug it in and preheat for 10–15 minutes.
- Put a layer between you and the blanket. Wear a long-sleeved shirt, pants and socks (the brand says 100% cotton works well), or use the organic cotton Sauna Blanket Insert.
- Zip in and set the level (1–9, up to 175°F, with a one-hour timer).
- Let it cool before you wipe it down. Never clean a hot blanket.
That layer of clothing or an insert does double duty: the brand says it protects your skin from direct contact with the heated surface, and it soaks up most of the sweat before it reaches the polyurethane shell.
After Every Session: The Cool-Down Wipe
The blanket's outer shell is waterproof polyurethane, so cleaning is a wipe-down, not a wash. HigherDOSE sells its own cleaning set, the High Maintenance Cleaner ($69 for the refillable aluminum bottle plus concentrate, or $59 for a concentrate refill). Here's how the brand says to use it:
- Pour one full vial of concentrate into the bottle and top it up with filtered or distilled water. Each vial is made for 11–12 oz of water, so any 12 oz spray bottle works for refills.
- Once the blanket has cooled, spray the mixture on the body of the device.
- Wipe it dry before you store it. Folding a damp blanket is the habit to break.
The formula is water-based with an essential oil blend and a probiotic. If you'd rather not reorder, a subscription sends 3 vials every 2 months at 15% off with free shipping, and you can pause or cancel through help@higherdose.com.
Laundry Day: The Soft Goods
The fabric pieces around a HigherDOSE routine each come with their own rules. Here they are in one place:
| Item | Price | Care, per HigherDOSE |
|---|---|---|
| Sauna Blanket Insert | $89 (3-pack $229) | Machine-washable and quick to dry; follow the attached care label |
| Organic Cotton Bath Robe | $159 | Machine wash cold with like colors, tumble dry low, no bleach or fabric softener |
| SweatBand | $49 | Hand wash in cold water with mild soap after each use; pat or hang dry; no harsh cleaners or abrasive wipes |
| Supercharge Copper Body Brush | $69 | Swish the bristles in warm, soapy water without wetting the wood, rinse, then dry face down on a towel |
| Sauna Blanket Bag | $99 | Do not machine wash, dry clean or iron; wipe with warm water and a microfiber cloth |
Storage: Where the Blanket Lives Between Sessions
The Sauna Blanket Bag ($99) is the brand's answer to the hall-closet problem. It's a backpack-style roll-top made from REPREVE recycled fibers (about 10 plastic bottles per bag, says HigherDOSE), with adjustable side straps and water-resistant fabric. It measures 17" (expanding to 26") × 13" × 6" and weighs 2.2 lb.
Two details matter before you buy one. First, it fits V3 and V4 blanket models only. Second, it's designed for the blanket itself, with some room at the top for an insert and a bottle of cleaner, not for the mats.
PEMF Mats: Covers, Heat and Where You Plug In
HigherDOSE says its mats don't get as hot and sweaty as the blanket, but they still need some care:
- Use a heat-resistant chair or surface. The Go Mat (19.5" × 39") can go flat on the floor or over a chair.
- Don't leave the heat on high unattended. The infrared heat runs for up to 8 hours before it shuts off automatically.
- Keep it in its home country. The brand says mats should only be used in the country where they were bought and shipped. Using one elsewhere voids the warranty and can damage the mat.
- Add a cover. The Infrared PEMF Mat Cover ($79 full size, $59 for the Go Mat) is an organic cotton and bamboo layer that HigherDOSE says reduces how often you need to clean the mat. For a plusher feel, the Natural Sheep Shearling Cover ($139 small, $239 large) is New Zealand shearling from Leather Working Group–certified sources.
HigherDOSE Care Accessories Worth Knowing

Red Light Devices: Charging, Cleaning and Filters
- Red Light Hat ($449): the LED panel is held in with magnets and comes out. Spot clean the hat, let it air dry fully before the next use, and never wash the red light insert. The brand lists an operating range of 14°F to 95°F, so don't leave it in a freezing car.
- Red Light Face Mask ($349): the controller charges over USB-C in 3–4 hours, and HigherDOSE says a charge lasts about 80–100 minutes, or up to ten 10-minute sessions. A storage bag comes in the box, so use it rather than tossing the mask in a drawer.
- Red Light Showerhead Filter ($599): the product page recommends a new filter every 75 days, while the filter FAQ says every 2–4 months depending on household size. Replacements are $45 each or $109 for a 3-pack. To swap one, unscrew the showerhead, take out the old filter, peel the safety stickers off the new one and screw it back in tightly.
Mistakes the Warranty Won't Cover
HigherDOSE devices come with a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, starting from the original purchase date. The fine print on the sauna blanket warranty is a useful care checklist in itself:
| Don't | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Try to repair the blanket or controller yourself | The brand calls it dangerous, and the damage isn't covered |
| Let pets near it | Damage caused by pets is excluded |
| Ignore the published guidelines | Damage from operating outside them isn't covered |
| Use it in a gym, spa or office | Devices are for home use; commercial use voids the warranty |
| Expect cosmetic cover | Scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports or cords are excluded unless caused by a defect |
If something does fail, email help@higherdose.com. For eligible claims, the brand describes mail-in service with prepaid shipping labels.
Return Rules for Accessories
Care products follow different rules from the devices. Accessories (brushes, bags, inserts and covers) have a 120-day return window, but once opened, they're accepted only if defective. Inserts, mat covers and brushes also carry a $15 restocking fee per item, unless they were bought in the same order as a device. The cleaner and body-care products are final sale. In practice, that means buying accessories together with your device is the cheaper way to do it.
The Bottom Line
Looking after HigherDOSE gear comes down to a few habits: always use a layer, let the blanket cool, wipe it dry before folding, store it in a bag that fits your model, and keep the mats and LED devices inside their stated limits. Add the insert and cover when you buy the device to avoid restocking fees, and check our HigherDOSE deals page for the current offer.
