Burton Review 2026: Boards, Step On® and Gear for Every Kind of Rider

The chairlift creaks to a stop at the top, everyone around you sits down in the snow to fight with frozen binding straps, and you just step in, hear the click, and drop into the first run while the corduroy is still perfect. That's the kind of morning Burton has been chasing for nearly fifty years.
Burton is the name most people connect with snowboarding itself, and in 2026 it's marking 50 years of the sport with reissues and new gear. We went through Burton's U.S. site in October 2026, from boards and Step On® setups to outerwear and bags, to help you spend your season budget well.
From a Vermont Barn to the Mountain
Burton's About page tells it simply: in 1977, Jake Burton Carpenter founded Burton Snowboards out of his Vermont barn. After a move to a farm in Manchester, Vermont, the barn became the factory, the living room the store, the basement the warehouse and the bedroom the office. Jake's wife Donna Carpenter became integral to building the company; Jake passed in 2019, and Donna continues as chair of the board and owner.
Today the headquarters are in Burlington, Vermont, home to its research and development hub, Craig's Prototype Facility. Burton says it was the world's first snowboard company to become a certified B Corporation, and its blog notes it has been certified again.
What Sets Burton Gear Apart
- Step On® bindings. A strap-free boot-to-binding interface with three connection points (two at the toe, one at the heel). The pitch: less time bent over your bindings, more time riding.
- A board for every rider. All-mountain, powder, park and freestyle, splitboards, kids' boards and a Customize My Board option.
- Technical outerwear. The [ak]® line covers demanding conditions with GORE-TEX pieces, while everyday jackets like the Covert 2L add storm-sealing details and warm phone pockets.
- Anon helmets and goggles, Burton's own eyewear and helmet brand, sold side by side with the boards.
The everyday payoff is a full kit from one place, built to work together, so the boots match the bindings and the bag fits the boots.

| Burton Cultivator Flat Top Snowboard | $399.95 | Progressing riders; twin shape, soft flex, catch-free bevel |
| Men's Burton Instigator PurePop Camber | $459.95 | Riders who want a budget-friendly camber board |
| Men's Step On® Boot & Binding Package | $549.95 | Anyone switching to strap-free bindings in one purchase |
| Women's Burton Feelgood Camber | $649.95 | Women chasing lines and natural hits across the mountain |
| Men's Burton Custom Camber | $679.95 | Do-it-all riders who want a lightweight, poppy board |
| Men's Covert 2L Insulated Jacket | $259.95 | Resort days with storm-sealing details |
| Burton Gig 70L Duffel Bag | $124.95 | Mountain commuters with a tarp-lined boot compartment |
Buy the Cultivator if you're still learning
Burton describes it as "all about growth." The twin shape rides the same forward and backward, and the soft flex plus catch-free bevel take some stress out of the learning curve. Gender-neutral sizing runs from 135 to 160, including wide sizes.
Buy the Step On® package if you hate straps
You get Moto Step On boots with a BOA single-dial fit and Step On Re:Flex bindings in one box. One thing to check: Burton notes a 3D Hinge Disc (not included) is needed to mount on 3D-pattern boards, which are Burton boards made before 2014.
Buy the Custom if you want one board for everything
Burton says the Custom series has been around since 1996 and calls the Custom Camber lightweight, poppy and highly versatile. Sizes run from 150 to 162, including wide options, so bigger boots have a fit too.

Burton FAQ
Will Step On® bindings fit my board?
Burton says the Step On Re:Flex bindings are universally compatible, but a 3D Hinge Disc (sold separately) is needed for 3D-pattern Burton boards made before 2014.
Does Burton ship outside the U.S.?
Burton.com ships to U.S. addresses only. Customers in Canada, Europe and Japan use their regional Burton sites.
Can I try a board before buying?
Yes. Burton runs a Test Ride program at stores and partner shops in several states, which you book by phone.
How do warranty claims work?
Contact a Burton Guide with photos and a description, then submit the claim form. Covered items are repaired or replaced; you pay shipping to Burton.
Our Verdict
Burton is the obvious one-stop shop for a snowboarding setup, and its newer conveniences, like Step On® and complete packages, make getting on snow faster. Match the board to your riding (Cultivator to learn, Custom or Feelgood to grow), lock in a discount program if you qualify, and clear $100 for free shipping. Check our Burton deals page before you order.
