Alo Review 2026: Airlift, Airbrush or Alosoft? Matching Your Leggings to Your Workout

The studio lights dim, the playlist drops to something slow, and you sink into a low lunge. This is the moment your leggings either disappear or start a fight: the waistband rolls, the fabric goes see-through, the seam digs in. Alo built a whole wardrobe around making that moment quiet, with sculpting Airlift, buttery Airbrush and brushed Alosoft fabrics that are meant to go from the mat to the coffee line without a costume change.

We went through Alo's current lineup, fabric descriptions, prices and return policy on aloyoga.com in October 2026. Here's what each fabric family actually is, which piece suits which kind of workout, and how to pay less than full price.

The Story: Two Friends, One Los Angeles Yoga Label

Alo was founded in Los Angeles in 2007 by childhood friends Danny Harris and Marco DeGeorge. The name is an acronym for "air, land, ocean." What started as yoga clothing has grown into a full studio-to-street wardrobe: leggings, sports bras, tennis skirts, men's training shorts, French terry sweats, outerwear, yoga mats, sneakers and more.

Walk through the site's menu and you'll see how the brand thinks: you can shop by activity (Yoga, Train, Pilates, Run, Tennis, Lounge) or by color, with shades like Rich Bordeaux, Steel Grey and Espresso repeating across categories so a bra, legging and hoodie actually match.

What Makes It Different: Pick Your Fabric, Pick Your Feel

Alo doesn't just sell "leggings." It sells fabric families, each with its own compression level and finish. Knowing which one you want saves you a return. Here's how Alo describes them on its product pages:

  • Airlift: "sculpting, subtly sheeny, high-compression" fabric. The 7/8 High-Waist Airlift Legging adds a wide, double-layered waistband for a held-in feel, so it stays put through inversions and squats.
  • Airbrush: Alo's "super soft" fabric with medium compression. It's used on pieces like the Real Bra Tank and the Better Together Tennis Skirt, so you get support without a squeezed-in feel.
  • Alosoft: buttery-soft with a brushed finish, for slower flows, errands and off-duty days.
  • ALO Softsculpt: a medium-compression fabric Alo calls smoothing, sculpting and naturally breathable. The Define Legging has no front seam and an invisible interior scrunch.
  • Conquer (men): a sueded performance fabric. The 7" Conquer React Performance Short is described as a lightweight training essential with an internal drawcord.
  • Accolade: drapey, midweight French terry that's smooth outside and fleecy inside, cut with a dropped shoulder for an easy fit.

Rule of thumb: the higher the compression, the more "locked in" the piece feels. Choose Airlift for sweaty, high-movement sessions; Airbrush or Softsculpt for Pilates and all-day wear; Alosoft when comfort beats everything else.

Airlift vs. Airbrush: which one should you buy?

Think about how much you move. Airlift is Alo's high-compression fabric, the one you reach for in hot vinyasa, HIIT or anything with jumping. It holds you in and the double-layer waistband stays put. Airbrush is softer and medium compression, so it's the comfortable choice for Pilates, barre or a long day where you'll wear your workout clothes to lunch afterwards. If you're unsure, start with one of each in a neutral color and see which one you grab first.

Built for court days

Alo has a dedicated Tennis section. The Airbrush Better Together Tennis Skirt has a contrast layered look and an elastic logo waistband, and Alo suggests pairing it with the matching Better Together Bra. Add the Airlift Solar Visor (seen at $62, was $78) and you're dressed for an early match.

For the guys

The men's side runs from Conquer training shorts to Accolade sweats and hoodies. The 7" Conquer React short comes in S–2XL, is described as sueded and lightweight, and has an internal drawcord so there's no dangling string while you lift.

Alo FAQ

Which Alo legging is the most supportive?

Alo calls Airlift its high-compression fabric, and the Airlift Techlux Bra is described as ultra-high compression. Airbrush and ALO Softsculpt are medium compression; Alosoft is the softest, brushed option.

Does Alo offer free returns?

Yes. Alo's refund policy says returns are free, within 30 days of purchase, with tags attached and the item unused. Exchange Only and Final Sale items have stricter rules.

Does Alo make clothes for men?

Yes. There's a full men's section with training shorts, shirts, sweatpants, hoodies, jackets and accessories, including the Conquer and Accolade lines.

Is there an Alo promo code?

We didn't see a public sitewide code on aloyoga.com in October 2026. The reliable savings are marked-down colors, Alo Access and our deals page.

Our Verdict

Alo is a premium buy, but it's an organized one: pick the fabric that matches your workout, Airlift for sweat and speed, Airbrush or Softsculpt for Pilates and all-day wear, Alosoft for slow days, then build a set in one color. Free returns within 30 days take the guesswork out of sizing, and the Sale section often has the same styles in other shades for much less. Check our Alo deals page before you order.
